What you can do with VECTRA

No math background needed. Just move sliders, pick colors, and shuffle to create one-of-a-kind patterns.

Real-time controls & presets

Adjust every parameter with instant visual feedback. Start from a curated preset, then dial in your own look.

18 palettes + custom colors

18 professionally designed palettes plus the ability to create your own gradients.

Smooth morphing

Switching parameters or patterns triggers fluid, continuous transitions.

SVG & high-res PNG export

Export as SVG for vector editing in Illustrator, or high-resolution PNG for web, social media, and print.

Lock & shuffle

Lock values you like and randomize the rest. Serendipity meets intentional control.

Supported pattern types

Each curve family has its own beauty and mathematical character. VECTRA includes the following 8 types.

Lissajous Lissajous

Two orthogonal sinusoidal oscillations combined. Change the frequency ratio and phase to produce an infinite variety of elegant knot-like lattice patterns.

Rhodonea Rose curve

The polar equation r = cos(k*theta) creates petal-shaped curves. A single coefficient changes the petal count, revealing floral symmetry.

Spirograph Hypotrochoid

The trace of a pen attached to a smaller circle rolling inside a larger one. Dense, delicate, lace-like patterns from interlocking gears.

Phyllotaxis Phyllotaxis

Points arranged along the golden angle, mimicking sunflower seed spirals. Nature's optimal packing, recreated algorithmically.

Superformula Superformula

Gielis' superformula describes a vast range of organic shapes in a single equation. Stars, flowers, polygons, all from one formula.

Harmonograph Harmonograph

The damped trace of coupled pendulums. Gradually decaying oscillations produce poetic spiral forms that slowly close in.

Clifford Attractor Clifford

A chaotic point cloud from simple iterative equations. Countless points form cloud- and feather-like density gradients.

de Jong Attractor de Jong

Another strange attractor family. Butterfly-like or misty organic forms emerge unpredictably from computation.

Three steps to create

No complicated setup. Just open, play, and export.

Choose a pattern

Pick from 8 math curve types. Use presets or shuffle to find a starting point.

Tweak & color

Slide parameters to shape the form. Choose from 18 palettes or create your own gradient. Lock values you want to preserve.

Export

Download as SVG or PNG. SVG is perfect for Illustrator; PNG works for web, social, and print.

Use cases

Generated patterns work beautifully across many design contexts.

Frequently asked questions

What is VECTRA?

A free browser-based tool that generates beautiful geometric patterns from mathematical formulas. Adjust parameters, choose colors, and create unique designs with no math or installation required.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?

Completely free. No registration or installation needed. Open the page and start creating immediately.

What patterns can I create?

Lissajous curves, Rhodonea (rose) curves, Spirograph (hypotrochoid), Phyllotaxis, Superformula, Harmonograph, Clifford attractor, and de Jong attractor. 8 types in total.

Can I export my patterns?

Yes. Export as SVG (vector) for use in Illustrator or as high-resolution PNG for web, social media, and print.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The interface is optimized for mobile and tablet browsers. On mobile, long-press exported images to save them.
